I am zooarchaeologist/osteologist working with both human and animal remains from foraging contexts. As a researcher, I have been studying both physical bone remains and their biochemical composition to interpret the diets, foraging strategies and lives of prehistoric hunter-fisher-gatherers. During the last years, I have also been working with sequential strontium isotope ratios in archaeological teeth from humans, terrestrial and aquatic mammals, and fish. By relating individual tooth data to regional strontium isoscapes, I have studied both individual and group mobility patterns and origins. This methodological approach, facilitated by laser ablation multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry, will be further developed and implemented in FORAGER to establish foraging ranges, hunting grounds and the size of the territory related to a particular settlement. The strontium analyses will be used to understand the temporal development and changes in territoriality in the different regions and among the investigated societies and constitute one of the pillars in work package 4.
