I am Regents Professor of Anthropology at the University of Montana, USA and co-PI on the FORAGER project. My research emphasizes the evolution of semi-sedentary village communities of fisher-foragers in North America’s greater Pacific Northwest region.  More specifically, I study demographic history, subsistence variation, social change, and technological evolution, with a particular focus on lithic technologies.  Within FORAGER, my roles include lead on Work Packages 2 (Settlement) and 7 (Community Archaeology) along with collaborator on Work Packages 5 (Cultural Inheritance) and 6 (Social Inequality).  I also am the lead investigator regarding Pacific Northwest studies. In that context, I am the PI for our collaborative study (with Xwisten, the Bridge River Indian Band) of Ketxelknaz, the Bridge River housepit village, British Columbia.
