Ashley Hampton received a B.A. and M.A. in anthropology from Florida Atlantic University, and a Ph.D in anthropology from the University of Montana.  Her research in household archaeology has examined change in use of space and social identity during the life-history of a singular housepit (HP54) at the Bridge River Archaeological Site located in the traditional territory of the St’át’imc Nation in the Mid-Fraser Canyon of British Columbia, Canada. She was a 2023-2024 Networking Archaeological Data and Communities (NADAC) scholar and a Visiting Assistant Professor of Anthropology at Hamilton College from 2023-2026.

Her work within FORAGER will include synthesizing legacy archaeological data fromthe broader Pacific Northwest region along with leading new field projects at the Bridge River site. This fieldwork will be focused on gaining more information about the earliest occupations at the village (the BR 1 occupation) to better understand these early population dynamics.
