I am a senior researcher in Native American studies at the National Museum of Denmark. My research focuses on cultural change, evolution, and transmission in broad strokes, from the archaeological nuts and bolts of artifacts and material culture to more anthropological phenomena such as cosmology, ritual, and religion and the ways in which culture is inherited and changes as a result of social learning, pedagogy, and practice. I am also keenly interested in the ways that traditional Indigenous knowledge and know-how have evolved and are revitalized, translated, and made relevant in contemporary contexts. My work tends to utilize quantitative comparative methods such as cultural phylogenetics as well as more qualitative approaches such as historical ecology and comparative ethnology. I will be leading Work Package 6 and working closely with Work Packages 5 and 7.
